FAQ

Couples getting married often wonder about Favor Etiquette. Listed below are some answers to your favorite Favor Asked Questions or FAQ's.

Do I really need to have favors?

It's not the rule that the bridal couple give out favors. Your guests have come a long ways to share in your exciting occasion. It's a nice way to thank your guests and make them feel special. They certainly will appreciate your gesture.

How do I choose my favors?

There are so many choices, it can get quite overwhelming! Your favors should depict your overall wedding theme. This theme could be based on your wedding colors, location of your event, your hobbies, or even wedding style (i.e. classy and elegant, whimsical, or romantic to name a few). Choose a budget. How much do you want to spend on each person? There isn't a need to buy an expensive favor if it's not in your budget. We feature many favor items in the $1.00-$2.99 price range that your guests would certainly appreciate!

How many favors do I buy?

Figure an average of 15%-20% of those invited will not be able to attend. So if you are inviting 180 people, then between 144-153 people will attend. Based on this guestimation, you need to ask the following questions to get a more accurate count: 1) Are you buying favors per couple or individual? 2) Are most of the people you are inviting from out of town? 3) Is the wedding on a holiday weekend? 4) Are you having a destination wedding? Also make sure you have a couple of extra on hand for last minute additions.

When do I buy my favors?

The more unusual the favor, the earlier you need to buy them. You want to make sure the item isn't out of stock when you really need them. Typically 3-4 months out is a good time to purchase your favor items. This will give you time to add your personalization, ribbons, etc if needed.

Where do I place my favors?

You can be as creative as you wish. It's important to make sure that your favor is visible for your guests to see. You've chosen your favor very carefully and having it visible only enhances your table setup! You can place them above the plate, just to the left, on the table. Or if you want to use them as part of the centerpiece, then they can go in the center of the table. A third option is for a friend or staff person to hand out your favors in a nice basket as your guests leave the reception. Assigned seating is more effective for favors given to couples. In addition to the placecard that directs the couple to the table, a placecard can be set at the spot you wish the couple to sit. The favor would go in between the couple's two place cards. Another option is to use the favor tag on your favor as a placecard written with the guest's names and table numbers. This would be located at the entrance to the reception. This way each couple and each individual without a date is sure to receive your special momento.

Can I buy per couple or do I have to buy for each individual?

If the favor is small, edible or inexpensive, then it's customary to give a favor to each guest. If the favor is a bit more expensive, then 1 to each couple and each guest without a date is acceptable. The idea of giving favors per couple works best with assigned seating. You don't want people feeling that they didn't receive a favor.
